Before your first class

Your questions, answered.

  • If you're searching for classes in Launceston, wondering what exactly is a movement studio, and how is it different from a gym, pilates or yoga studio —

A movement studio is a holistic, human-centred space purposefully designed to facilitate a complete physical practice: strength, mobility, balance, skills and mind-body connection.

At Kin, we combine gymnastic strength training, soft acrobatics, and embodiment practices to create structured, progressive classes, lovingly designed to develop capable, resilient human beings.

You will hang, crawl, balance, lift, invert, partner up and play games. Learn to handstand, train on gymnastics rings, develop flexibility, and build quality strength, all while paying attention, not just to what we move, but to how we move.

Kin is where skill acquisition meets restorative play. Connection and trust-building are woven into every class. Kin is where you may just fall in love with moving again.

Every skill has an entry point. Whether you're starting from scratch or bringing years of experience, we have clear progressions to meet you exactly where you are.

Discover what your body can do when you train intelligently, consistently and playfully.

  • Kin Movement is for adults in Launceston who want to feel stronger, more capable and more confident in their bodies.

If you want to build genuine strength, learn new skills and move more freely in a warm, welcoming environment, Kin is your place.

Maybe you used to move with joy as a child and want that feeling back. Perhaps you're looking to discover that joy for the first time.

    You might be:

    • Curious about movement but unsure where to start

    • Enjoying yoga or Pilates, yet interested to build diversity of strength, or explore new skills

    • Emerging from a season of caregiving

    • A former athlete or dancer who misses the good old days

    • An active human wanting to increase quality of fitness and increase diversity of strength for the activities they love

    • A human who wants to age well and move through life with confidence and ease

Movement practice at Kin builds strength, mobility, balance, and practical skills that support and expand the life you want to live, whether that is playing with your kids, outdoor adventures, or simply feeling at home in your body.

  • Prior experience is not necessary for our Essentials and Mobility classes. All movement options are scalable to suit your ability level. Please let us know if you have any physical concerns when checking in to the studio.

  • We will offer private coaching in the near future. Please contact us to express your interest in working with our experienced teachers.

    Contact hello@movewithkin.com or SMS +61468082860.

  • We recommend attending 3 classes per week to experience the diversity and stimulus required to make sufficient progress. Of course, attending more frequently will increase the rate and depth of progress available. If this frequency is not accessible in your life right now, joining us for even 1-2 classes per week will still allow you to learn and develop movement practice at Kin.

  • An open mind and sense of curiosity.

Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move.

Shoes are not needed in the studio as we practice barefoot.

A water bottle to stay hydrated, and a journal and pen for note-taking, if you wish.

  • We keep our spaces phone-free for our members' comfort and privacy, and to remain present. We request that you leave your phone and camera in the storage cubbies while you’re with us. At all times, please adhere to our policy, specifically to not photograph or film other members without their explicit consent.

  • Yes, we have three private showering and changing cubicles. Simply bring your own towel and toiletries.

  • In the Momence App, simply “Join Waitlist” for your desired class, and you will automatically be on the waitlist if someone else cancels.
